Cingular Partners with MySpace PDF Print E-mail

Today US carrier Cingular and Internet social network MySpace announced an agreement that allows Cingular customers the opportunity to utilize MySpace while on the go. The newly launched service, called MySpace Mobile, is exclusive to Cingular and provides its users with direct access to the MySpace website.

From a Cingular handset, MySpace Mobile allows users to quickly respond to emails, upload photos, search for friends and family, or post blog entries. "MySpace.com has a passionate community of users, many of whom use our site as their primary means of staying in touch with family and friends," said Chris DeWolfe, CEO, MySpace. "We are thrilled to team with Cingular to enable their mobile users to experience the richest MySpace Mobile offering to date."

Customers can obtain the MySpace Mobile application by texting the word MYSPACE to 386 ("FUN") from their mobile phone. The new service will cost $2.99 per month plus applicable data charges. Additionally, Cingular customers can opt to receive MySpace Mobile text message alerts that notify them when a post occurs to their MySpace page.

It should be noted that US based MVNO Helio has long offered its users direct access to their MySpace accounts from their mobile phones.
