On-Device Debugger in Carbide.j PDF Print E-mail
An on-device debugging feature is being included in the next release of Carbide.j, Nokia’s free software development tool
for the Java™ Platform, Micro Edition (Java™ ME), formerly the Java™ 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME™).
On-device debugging lets a developer troubleshoot code while it is running on a phone, a big improvement over testing on an emulator that may not always match the phone’s precise operation. To use the new on-device debugging feature, a developer will install  a small debug agent on the device, then evaluate and control the phone’s software from a PC. The new debugging feature supports S60 3rd Edition phones, including the Nokia E60 device, Nokia N80 multimedia device, and Nokia 3250 phone. Developers who use the new on-device debugging feature can benefit from reduced development times, lower costs, and faster time to market.
