JavaOne Demos Combine S60 Phones with Web 2.0 Capabilities |

At JavaOne, two exciting demos of Java™ applications highlighted the power of the S60 platform when combined with Web 2.0 services. The applications deliver software as a continually updated service. The first, Cafe Finder, uses location-based services (LBS) and employs a single consistent UI to integrate several Web services: CafeSpot, a cafe look-up service; GeoCoder, a service that finds the longitude and latitude of any location; and Yahoo Maps. Cafe Finder is currently available in a preview version.
A second application, Feeler J, is a photocasting application that uses the phone’s camera and connectivity to continuously update image feeds from a Web server using an RSS/Atom service. |
