Get Ready for the Mobile Service Architecture PDF Print E-mail
Mobile Service Architecture (MSA) phones will hit the market soon, according to a JavaOne presentation given by Kay
Glahn, mobile-services consultant at Vodafone, and Nokia director Asko Komsi. Java™ Specification Requests for MSA (JSR-248) and MSA Advanced (JSR-249) are designed to simplify Java application development by consolidating and aligning API specifications into an open API platform. For developers, the benefits will include wider interoperability, easier development and porting of applications, and increased market and revenue opportunities. The final JSR-248 v1.0 specification is expected in August, with compliant products expected late this year and early next. JSR-249 focuses on more-advanced phones, and an early draft is expected in the last quarter of this year.
