Nokia has launched "Videotones", a handset-based application for Nokia Series 60 handsets, for consumers here.
"Videotones" is geared to enable users with access to multimedia music and video on-the-fly. "Videotones" are short video sequences or animation clips announcing each incoming call, along with the caller's name being displayed on the screen.
Users can view their favorite music video each time the phone rings; choice is available from a wide variety of video tones including Indi pop, Bollywood numbers and international albums.
"Videotones" can be availed by consumers using Nokia Series 60 handsets; users can download "Videotones" at the rate of Rs 20 per video tone, through GPRS by sending an SMS.
Nokia says that Mobile Phones have evolved as a new form of entertainment, and that downloading mobile content is becoming increasingly popular amongst consumers. In such a scenario the company expects "Videotones" to add a new dimension to ringtones, which will further enhance the consumer's mobile experience.
