While Motorola's stylish new smartphone is never to be released in the US, the manufacturer brought one to CTIA Wireless this year, and we had a little hands on time to shoot some pictures for everyone.

The Linux-powered Motorola MING (formally known as the A1200) sports an interesting design, with a translucent protective cover adorning the front of the handset. Particularly interesting is the way Motorola has attached the speaker to the cover, running two very thin wires up either side of the flip, making something very plain and boring into a design element. Unfortunately, it seems as though the cover will scratch easily.

What about features though? The delightfully named MING, a word which Motorola say means bright, clear, overt or open, clear-sighted, and to understand, sports a 2.0 megapixel camera, full PIM functionality, handwriting recognition, and speaker independent voice dialing. The Motorola MING features a great 2.4" QVGA screen that appeared very bright and crisp.

The Motorola MING is available now, though only in Hong Kong currently.
