Nokia N800 is the latest Nokia Internet tablet and a smaller version (144mm x 75mm x 18mm) of its predecessor, Nokia 770. Like Nokia 770, the Nokia N800 is based on Nokia’s desktop Linux based Operating System too.

Nokia N800 doesn’t have a slot for SIM card but it is designed to work as an Internet calling device, enabling you to make VoIP calls via a Wi-Fi hotspot, such as Internet calling, instant messaging and emailing. Furthermore, Nokia also announced a development cooperation with Skype on Internet Telephony that will allow Skype users to make Internet calls from their Nokia N800. How nice is that huh!

Nokia N76 is a 3G multimedia clamshell smartphone. It has been perceived to be the answer from Nokia to Motorola RAZR series as it has a thickness of only 14mm when folded!

Just like the Motorola RAZR models, Nokia N76 also features a flat metal keypad too. In term of multimedia features, Nokia N76 is integrated with a 2-megapixel camera, a MP3 player, a FM radio and a 2.4-inch colour screen. An advatage N76 has is that it comes with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack to enable you to use your own headphones to listen to music. The hot swappable microSD slot allows you to expand the memory up to 2GB without turning off the mobile phone.

We have grown accustomed to expect phones with a certain type of design from every mobile phone manufacturer, and the vast majority of phones released lately have come with a design that highly resembles the one used in previously released phones.

A long time has gone by since September, when Nokia launched the 3G phone with a slider phone factor, the Nokia 6288. Although the mobile phone was scheduled to start shipping during the third quarter of 2006, the year has passed without the 6288 available in stores or any information on why it didn't start shipping.

Today US carrier Cingular and Internet social network MySpace announced an agreement that allows Cingular customers the opportunity to utilize MySpace while on the go. The newly launched service, called MySpace Mobile, is exclusive to Cingular and provides its users with direct access to the MySpace website.

Today US banking giant Wachovia announced the first phase of its mobile banking system for its customers. Wachovia Mobile, the company's first step with mobile banking, is available now on handheld devices running Windows Mobile 5 with Pocket Internet Explorer.

Similar to the standardization efforts undertaken by a consortium of South Korean network operators, the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry has announced that it will be setting a national standard for mobile phone charger connectors for handsets in the country. Unlike the South Korean efforts, where one of the primary aims was to increase accessory sales, the Chinese government says the plan is designed to cut electronic waste from its more than 450 million phone service subscribers.
